April Vacation at the Clubhouse!

We are looking forward to more spring weather and some extra time together at the Clubhouse for April Vacation! The Main Clubhouse will be open for April Vacation programming! All active members, from ages 8-18, are encouraged to sign up for April Vacation days at the Club and join us for full days of Club programming including gym games, arts & crafts, and social recreation programs.

Interested families must register by Wednesday, April 10th to participate on MyClubHubThere is no day of registration or drop-ins. There is no extra fee to participate. Pre-registration allows Club staff to prepare a fun, engaging, and safe vacation week for our members. 

The Clubhouse will be open Tuesday, April 16st – Thursday, April 18th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There is no early drop-off or late pick-up, please make sure to plan rides accordingly so your members can participate fully. There is no programming and the Club is closed on Monday, April 15th and Friday, April 19th. 

Are any of your members looking for service hours? Make sure to register to attend on Thursday, April 18th! Our Intrepid Keystone Club will be hosting Global Youth Service Day activities for all members to participate, give back to their Club & community, and earn some service hours!

Lunch and snacks are available for purchase each day and members are welcome to bring their own food. All members should wear sneakers and pack a reusable water bottle.

MS Volleyball League: Registration Open Now!

The Club is partnering with our friends at the Massachusetts State Police with the MSP Teams program to bring a new middle school volleyball league to the Clubhouse!

Youth in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade are encouraged to join this co-ed, all level league. Due to the generous support from MA State Police there is no league fees. All players must be active Club members and register for the league on our parent portal. Not a member yet? Follow that link to register for the Club as well.

League runs from April 8th to June 14th with practices on Mondays & games on Fridays. There is an open try-out on Monday, April 8th to determine teams. First practice will take place Friday, April 12th and continue every Monday beginning Monday, April 22nd. First game will take place on Friday, April 26th.

We are also seeking interested adult volunteers to support this new program! If you are interested in coaching and getting involved in the Club, email Dave now.

We are excited to announce our 2024 scholarship opportunities for our Class of 2024! All opportunities below are open to current, active members of the McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn. 

Alumni Scholarship Application: due May 3, 2024
Timothy M. Padulsky Memorial Scholarship: due April 30, 2024
The Sev4 Scholarship: due May 6, 2024

Teens: Join us for ACE Teen Summer!

The Clubhouse is excited to offer A.C.E. Teen Summer for a second year for our members who are currently enrolled in 9th and 10th grade! This program is designed to expand workforce development opportunities and career readiness while offering safe and fun options for our teens during the summer months.

ACE (Advancing Career Exploration) Teen Summer sets out for members to explore their interests and passions, develop their employability skills, and be exposed to real world work opportunities through fun, engaging off-site experiences. More details can be found here!

Join the Main Clubhouse Soccer League!

The Main Clubhouse is registering for the 2024 Soccer League! Members of the drop-in program are encouraged to register today to join our in-house, intramural soccer league. We ask that members interested in joining the league are able to fully commit to the program days to ensure a successful and positive experience for all teams!

Head to the Parent Portal now to register. Spots fill on a first come, first serve basis and will fill quickly!

Elementary Soccer League – Fridays, 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. – starting Friday, January 26th
Middle School & High School League – Thursdays, 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. – starting Thursday, January 25th

Both leagues will run for 8 weeks wrapping up the week of March 18, 2024. 

Winter Clothing Drive: Happening Now!

Are you starting the new year with a closet clean out? Have you outgrown any of your winter gear? We have the solution for those piles! 

Support Gemstones and their Winter Clothing Drive! They’ll be accepting new and gently used winter items, including coats, hats, gloves, and scarves at the Clubhouse. Bring your items to the drop box in the lobby any time until February 9, 2024. 

Gemstones is our elementary service group. All Club members currently in elementary school are encouraged to participate in Gemstones! Learn about issues affecting our community, plan service projects to give back, and earn community service hours. Meetings are every Wednesday at the Clubhouse at 5:00 p.m. Email Aubrie with any question about the drive or Gemstones!

Unity Basketball: Join Today!

Registration for Unity Basketball League is open now! Members currently in 7th & 8th grade looking to hone their basketball skills, cultivate teamwork skills and participate in a fun, competitive setting are encouraged to sign up today! This co-ed league begins in October with practices Tuesday evenings and games Thursdays evenings at the Clubhouse. Youth from any community are welcome to participate.

We are currently seeking volunteer coaches to ensure a safe and positive experience for all participants. A dedicated group of volunteers ensures that this program can be run successfully. To help fill our volunteer need, email Dave at d.maestri@bgcwoburn.org.

Our Service Learning Groups are Recruiting

Is your member interested in giving back to their Club and community while also gaining important leadership skills and volunteer hours? Well now is the time to join the Club’s service learning groups! There’s opportunity for members of all ages. Important Dates to be Involved in Service Learning: 
       – Intrepid Keystone Club applications are due Wednesday, September 27th by 7:00 p.m.
       – Tanners Torch Club is hosting a mandatory information session for all interested new & returning
              members on Wednesday, September 27th at 7:00 p.m.
       – Gemstones is hosting its first meeting on Wednesday, September 27th at 5:00 p.m. and will
              continue to meet weekly, Wednesdays at 5:00 p.m.

Join the Drop-in Clubhouse Program!

We are excited to kick off our 2023-2024 drop-in Clubhouse program year! The Main Clubhouse is open to youth & teens 8-18 years old from any community. The Club offers a wide variety of programs and opportunities to support youth in three main program areas: academic success, healthy lifestyles, and good character & leadership. 

Check out the important information on how to become a member and get involved this school year!

The 2023-2024 drop-in program opens Monday, September 18th and runs through mid-June, date TBD. To attend the drop-in program, all members returning or new, must complete a membership application through the MyClubHub Parent Portal, pay a $25 membership fee, and attend a new member orientation or a returning member meeting with an adult caregiver.
