Building Futures Update – May 10, 2017

We are getting closer and closer to moving back to Charles Gardner Lane! Wallboard is in place, plumbing nearly complete, paint being applied and basketball hoops being installed; it is a very exciting time to be involved with the James L. 100% of this project has been privately funded through the dedication and commitment of amazing donors and volunteers. If you have not yet given to our Building Futures Campaign, please consider getting involved today. No donation is too small to make a difference for our Club kids.

Leave your mark – be part of history!

The James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn has reached an important time in its history and we hope you will be a part of it. The Building Futures Campaign supports the major renovation and expansion of our Clubhouse facility. Construction has already begun and when it is complete will nearly double the size of the Main Clubhouse and allow us to serve more youth and increase our life enhancing programming.

We have raised well over half of our ambitious $8.5 million goal from generous individuals, corporations, foundations and other institutions. We are now turning to the greater community to help us reach this goal. Donors that contribute $2,500 or more will have their name or a name in honor or in memory of a loved one, immortalized on our donor wall in the Clubhouse lobby.

“We are really pushing for this donor wall to be a huge success” says Matthew Donaghey, who is a member of the Board of Directors. Donaghey went on to say; “While we’ve been successful in our fundraising efforts, we are still well short of our obligations. If enough people step up, this effort can put us over the top and allow us to complete this project debt free. The $2,500 can be paid over 5 years at $500 per year. In return for that generous gift, your name is listed on the donor wall of the club forever. We want to recognize everyone who made this new facility a reality, and this wall will be there for all to see for decades to come.”

Please consider supporting the Building Futures Campaign today. If you would like to make a one time donation click here or if you would like to make a pledge, please click here to download a pledge form. In order to be
listed on the donor wall your gift or signed pledge must be received by July 15, 2017; however pledges can be paid over up to five years. If you have any questions please contact Lytta Teta, Director of Development at 781.935.3777 or l.teta@bgcwoburn.org.

Building Futures Update – December 30, 2016

Rapid & exciting progress continues at Charles Gardner Lane, where the construction and renovation of our Clubhouse began in September. Recently, the structural steel was erected for the addition in the front of the building that will house both a cafeteria as well as new offices and a bright, welcoming lobby. The roofing over the gymnasium and the swimming pool have been completed. Excavation to prepare for the new swimming pool is nearly complete and construction of the new pool will begin soon. Additionally, grading at the interior of the gym is nearing completion and the slap will be poured in January.

There is still time to support this project by making a pledge to the Building Futures Campaign. Payments on pledges may be spread out over up to five years. Those pledges of $2,500 or more will be permanently recognized on a donor wall in our new lobby. Please consider pledging your support today.

Work continues on the roof in the gymnasium, where the deck has been installed and the roofing material will begin to be placed on Friday. The work on the masonry & steel joists in the pool continues and will be finished before the end of the week, with the roofing material being installed next week.

There are just a few weeks remaining to join the Building Futures Campaign in time to have your name or the name of your business listed on the donor wall in our new lobby. Please consider getting involved today.
