Election DayTuesday, November 5, 2019

  • – The drop-in Clubhouse will be open to its members from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., please note that there is no early drop-off or late pick-up. Please make sure all members arrange appropriate rides.
  • – Lucky Lobsters Swim Team will practice on their regular schedule.
  • – All school sites (Project Learn & ATB/BTB) will be closed.
  • – L.E.A.P. Childcare will be operating on its regular schedule.

Veterans DayMonday, November 11, 2019

Thanksgiving Holiday

  • – The drop-n Clubhouse will be open from dismissal until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2019.

  • – L.E.A.P. Childcare will be operating on its regular schedule.
  • – All programs will be closed Thursday, November 28, 2019 and Friday, November 29, 2019.

Winter Break
All Club programs will be closed Monday, December 23, 2019 through Wednesday, January, 1, 2020. Project Learn, L.E.A.P Childcare and the Drop-In Clubhouse will resume programming on Thursday, January 2, 2020.

New Opportunity: Free Swims Added!

The drop-in Clubhouse is excited to announce a few free swim opportunities for our members! Members must bring a bathing suit, towel and a change of dry clothes to participate. All members are encouraged to join us for the following swims:

Friday, October 25, 2019 @ 4:00 p.m.
Wednesday, October 30, 2019 @ 4:00 p.m.
Friday, November 1, 2019 @ 4:00 p.m.

Please note that the Club staff are working hard to offer free swim when our schedule allows and we will continue to offer throughout the year. Make sure to continue to check our website for updated programs & activities throughout the year.

Co-Ed Instructional Basketball Leagues Forming!

The James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn is excited to start another year of our basketball leagues! The Club seeks to provide a positive, welcoming environment for members of all skill levels to enhance their skills and be a part of the team. Teams are run by volunteer coaches and meet for 1 practice and 1 game a week at the Clubhouse. Our winter season is open to anyone in the 2nd grade and turning 8 by 12/31/19 through 8th grade. Please see registration & league details below and email our Athletic Director, Dave at d.maestri@bgcwoburn.org, with specific questions.

League Registration:
Biddy League – Grades 2nd-4th (must turn 8 years old by 12/31/2019)
Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Buddy League – Grades 5th & 6th
Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Intermediate League – Grades 7th & 8th
Thursday, October 24, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Leagues fill on a first come, first serve basis and all registration must be done in person. Leagues cost $25 to participate in and all participants must be a member of the Club. A Club membership costs $25 and those who are not yet members can complete this registration on the same evening of basketball registration. Your child does not need to be present for registration. If you are new to the Club, your child and you will need to attend an orientation before participating.

Practice & game schedules will be determined once your child is placed on a team. Please note that we can not accommodate practice day/time requests as these are determined based on the availability of our volunteer coaches.

We are currently recruiting volunteer coaches to support this program. Please reach out to Dave for more information about this opportunity!

Boys & Girls Club Fundraising Month at the 99 Restaurant!

This October marks the 10th year that Boys & Girls Clubs have partnered with the 99 Restaurant! We are excited to support our local restaurants this month as they work to support our Club and our programming!

There are lots of way to show your support:
– Visit our 3 local partners and order an item off of the Boys & Girls Club menu and they will make a $1 donation to our Club,
– Purchase raffle tickets for the awesome prizes at each restaurant,
– Add a donation to your bill,
– And thank the staff for their hard work on behalf of our Club!

We hope to see you there this month! Don’t forget that Kids Eat Free every Sunday through November 3rd and on Halloween in honor of the Club!

Scarecrows for Solutions is BACK!

Support the Club and check off a Fall Bucket List item off the list! McCue Garden Center is partnering with the Club again for Scarecrows for Solution!

Join us at McCue Garden Center Saturday, October 12th or Sunday, October 13th to make a scarecrow. Bring your own shirt and pants, tell them at check out you are there to support the Club, and your $15 will come right back to the Club! Our Intrepid Keystone Club will be on hand all weekend to help you build your scarecrow. Come see us there!

Service Learning Opportunities

The Club offers a wide variety of ways for youth & teen members to earn community service hours and give back to their Club & their community. The Club works hard to build leadership skills in all our members while showing them how much fun it is to give back to others!

Intrepid Keystone Club, for high school members, applications are due on Wednesday, October 2, 2019. Contact Meg with any questions!
2019-2020 Keystone Application

Woburn Youth Council, for members in grade 7-12.  Interested members should plan to attend an information session to learn more about this great opportunity on Tuesday, October 1, 2019. 

Tanners Torch Club, for middle school members.  Interested members MUST attend the information session on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 @ 7:00 p.m. to learn more and join this group.  Contact Erica with any questions!

Gemstones, for elementary members.  This is a drop-in program that all elementary members are welcome to attend.  They meet weekly on Wednesdays @ 4:00 p.m. and meetings begin Wednesday, September 25, 2019!

Main Clubhouse Orientations & Renewals 2019-2020

The Main Clubhouse is enrolling for the 2019-2020 school year! All interested youth & teens 8-18 years old, from any community, are welcome to join the drop-in program at the James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn. A membership costs just $25 for the school year and opens the door to a wide range of opportunities for all members in our three main program areas: academic success, healthy lifestyles & good character & leadership. But more importantly, a membership offers a safe place with caring adults to have fun and create meaningful relationships with your peers!

Orientations: All new members must attend an orientation, with a guardian or trusted adult, before enrolling & attending the drop-in program. Please arrive a few minutes early, as orientations start promptly at 7:00 p.m. and families are not permitted to join late. Our orientations dates are:

2019-2020 Membership Registration Information

The James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn is excited to announce the registration information for the 2019-2020 drop-in program! The drop-in program will begin on Monday, September 16, 2019. Members must have an active membership to begin the program.

New members, accompanied by a guardian, must attend an orientation before enrolling and attending the program.  Registration for returning members will only occur during renewal times.  There is no walk-in registration.  Memberships must be renewed and payment must be submitted before members can attend the Clubhouse.  All prior memberships expired on August 31, 2019.  Initial orientations & renewal times are listed below:

Save the Date: Moo Fest is Back!

Save the date for our 2nd Annual Moo Fest on Saturday, September 21, 2019! Join us at the Club from 2:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for this community event. This family friendly day will include music, food, beer & wine as well as games and activities for all ages! Entry and activities are free for all with food and drinks to purchase.

Don’t forget the main event: Cow Pie Bingo! Support the Club by purchasing a land parcel and taking a chance that our cow will pick you! We only sell 500 parcels for $50 a parcel and if the cow pie lands on your parcel you will win $5000! Other prizes including cash and gift cards will be awarded throughout the day.
