Congratulations to our November Members of the Month for the 2019-2020 program year! Each month staff recognize 6 members of our drop-in program for their participation in programs, engagement in different areas of the Club and positive attitude & behavior. Learn more about them here!


A.C.E. Award – Achieving through Continuous Effort
Given to 1 member of any age each month for excelling in the priority outcome area of Healthy Lifestyles by showing good sportsmanship and a positive attitude while pushing themselves to try new things and make good choices.

Hayden D. earned the A.C.E. award for being an active member and persevering and stepping outside his comfort zone while participating in Flag Football League.


S.T.A.R. Award – Striving Towards Achieving Results
Given to 1 member of any age each month for excelling in the priority outcome area of Academic Success by participating in a variety of programs and activities while demonstrating a strong effort to better themselves academically.

Alide H. was names S.T.A.R. of the month for being a helpful, kind and respectful Club member. Alide is a positive influence and helper during Power Hour, the Club’s homework time.


G.R.E.A.T. Award – Generous, Respectful, Engaged, Accepting & Thoughtful
Given to 1 member of any age for excelling in the priority outcome area of Good Character & Leadership by showing a commitment to service learning through participation in service around the Club while also being a leader and making thoughtful, smart choices.

Jenna P. received our G.R.E.A.T. award for her willingness to jump in and lend a hand to her peers and Club staff. An active Keystone member, Jenna has been a consistent leadership presence at the Club.


Jr. Staff Member of the Month
Given to 1 member of the junior staff that leads by example and is a reliable role model during the time they work at the Club.  They go above and beyond their responsibilities and are a true example of teen leaders at the Club!

Brendan T. was honored for always checking in with Club staff on what needs to be done. Brendan has demonstrated strong communication skills and a desire to learn and improve as a Jr. Staff.


Member of the Month
Given to 1 member aged 8 to 12 for consistent attendance and participation in all three key priority outcome areas while also possessing a good attitude, showing respect for all, and being a leader at the Club.

Erik L. is the Member of the Month For being a good influence on other members. Erik is always understanding and productive, showing maturity and a willingness to try a variety of programs.


Teen of the Month
Given to 1 member aged 13 to 18 for taking on leadership roles in the Clubhouse, setting an example for all Club members while also being present at the Club and participating in programs in each of the three key priority outcome areas while at the Club!

Lianna O. is our Teen of the Month for being a good friend and a kind presence to her peers and other Club members. Leanna is a positive role model and is always respectful and helpful to staff.

James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club’s Pot of Gold Raffle Tickets are now on sale! Our Pot of Gold Raffle is our largest fundraiser of the year & allows us to keep our doors open for more than 350 kids & teens each day.

Elise B. was awarded Member of the Month for actively participating in a wide variety of Club programs, trying new things, and being a respectful friend and Club member.

Clubhouse Family Night!

Join us Monday, November 25, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Main Clubhouse for Family Night!

All Club families are encouraged to join us at the Club for a fun night of activities and the chance to participate in Club activities as a family! All Club members are welcomed and should be accompanied by a caring adult to stay for the family night activities. Please note that the Club will be providing some light refreshments and dessert for participants.

The Club is collecting nonperishable food items to support the Council of Social Concern food bank. We ask that families consider bringing a canned good to donate at this event.

Please note that basketball and swim practice will run as normally scheduled! Members 7th grade and younger, not accompanied by an adult must be picked up at the regular time of 7:00 p.m.

Winter Break
All Club programs will be closed Monday, December 23, 2019 through Wednesday, January, 1, 2020. Project Learn, L.E.A.P Childcare and the Drop-In Clubhouse will resume programming on Thursday, January 2, 2020.

Clubhouse Halloween Dance

Gemstones presents the Clubhouse Halloween Dance!
This Friday, November 1, 2019 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
$5 per ticket, all proceeds donated to support cancer research!
All Club members 7th grade & under are welcome.

Tickets are on sale at the Club this week and can be purchased from any Keystone member, just ask! Members who would like to purchase a ticket for 1 guest are welcomed and must complete a permission slip for their friend.

Dancing, games and more fun throughout the night including a costume contest. Snacks & pizza will be on sale at the event.

New Opportunity: Free Swims Added!

The drop-in Clubhouse is excited to announce a few free swim opportunities for our members! Members must bring a bathing suit, towel and a change of dry clothes to participate. All members are encouraged to join us for the following swims:

Friday, October 25, 2019 @ 4:00 p.m.
Wednesday, October 30, 2019 @ 4:00 p.m.
Friday, November 1, 2019 @ 4:00 p.m.

Please note that the Club staff are working hard to offer free swim when our schedule allows and we will continue to offer throughout the year. Make sure to continue to check our website for updated programs & activities throughout the year.

Co-Ed Instructional Basketball Leagues Forming!

The James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn is excited to start another year of our basketball leagues! The Club seeks to provide a positive, welcoming environment for members of all skill levels to enhance their skills and be a part of the team. Teams are run by volunteer coaches and meet for 1 practice and 1 game a week at the Clubhouse. Our winter season is open to anyone in the 2nd grade and turning 8 by 12/31/19 through 8th grade. Please see registration & league details below and email our Athletic Director, Dave at d.maestri@bgcwoburn.org, with specific questions.

League Registration:
Biddy League – Grades 2nd-4th (must turn 8 years old by 12/31/2019)
Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Buddy League – Grades 5th & 6th
Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Intermediate League – Grades 7th & 8th
Thursday, October 24, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Leagues fill on a first come, first serve basis and all registration must be done in person. Leagues cost $25 to participate in and all participants must be a member of the Club. A Club membership costs $25 and those who are not yet members can complete this registration on the same evening of basketball registration. Your child does not need to be present for registration. If you are new to the Club, your child and you will need to attend an orientation before participating.

Practice & game schedules will be determined once your child is placed on a team. Please note that we can not accommodate practice day/time requests as these are determined based on the availability of our volunteer coaches.
