Registration for Project Learn for the 2023-2024 School Year open Wednesday, March 1, 2023!

Project Learn is the Club’s licensed afterschool childcare program offered at the Hurld Wyman and Linscott Rumford Elementary Schools. Students in grades K through 5th enrolled in these school are able to join Project Learn. 

The program is offered every day from school dismissal until 5:45 p.m. Care is also provided on early release days at no extra cost to our families. The program aims to create a fun, safe and supportive environment in which all children can grow and learn under the care of reliable and trustworthy staff members.

Clubhouse Drop-In: February Vacation Programming

The Clubhouse will be open for February Vacation programming for all active Clubhouse members Tuesday, February 21, 2023 – Thursday, February 24, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Join us on safari and participate in themed art, STEM and other fun activities throughout the week!

The Clubhouse will be closed in observance of Presidents’ Day on Monday, February 20, 2023 and for staff training on Friday, February 25, 2023. There is no early drop-off or late pick-up and those attending must arrange accordingly. All active Clubhouse members ages 8-18 are welcome to join us. Basketball Leagues Returning to the Clubhouse!

The Club is excited for the return of our in-house, intramural, instructional basketball leagues! Leagues are open to members in 2nd – 8th grade (all members must be 8 years old by 12/31/2022) from any community. The Club’s program seeks to foster an understanding and love of the game, support positive relationships amongst members through teamwork and a common goal, and create a fun, supportive environment for all.

Registration for all leagues opens online through our MyClubHub parent portal on October 18, 2022. 

Biddy League: For members in 2nd, 3rd, & 4th grade – must be 8 years old by 12/31/2022.

Buddy League: For members in 5th & 6th grade.

Intermediate League: For members in 7th & 8th grade.

All leagues have 1 practice & 1 game a week throughout the season. Practices are held Tuesdays-Fridays. Biddy & Buddy league games are held on Saturdays and the occasional Friday nights. Intermediate games are held on Thursday nights. We cannot accommodate individual requests such as practice days, and/or coaches, team, friends etc. 

Leagues fill on a first come, first serve basis and capacity is fully dependent on availability of volunteer coaches. The success of this league is dependent on this support, if you are available and interested in support this program head here: Volunteer!

Clubhouse Service Learning Groups Forming!

Clubhouse service learning groups are starting to form at the Club now. Groups are designed to support leadership development and to get members involved in service to their Club and community! These are structured groups meet weekly through the school year. Registration and deadlines for each group, by age, are detailed below.

Gemstones: Gemstones is our elementary school service learning group which meets Wednesdays at 4:00 p.m. No registration is required and interested members should plan to attend the first meeting on Wednesday, September 28th. Reach out to Katie with any question.

Tanners Torch Club: Torch Club is our middle school leadership group which meets Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. To join, new & returning members, must attend the mandatory information session on Wednesday, September 21st at 7:00 p.m. Applications will be distributed at the meeting. Email Sean with any questions.

Intrepid Keystone Club: Keystone is recruiting new members in 9th-11th grade. Meetings are held Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. Interested members must complete an application and interview process. Applications are due Wednesday, September 28th by 7:00 p.m. at the front desk and 2022-2023 Intrepid Keystone Application. Questions about Keystone? Email Katie!

Back to School Means Back to the Club!

The Main Clubhouse drop-in program will open Monday, September 19, 2022. The drop-in program is open to youth & teens, ages 8-18, from any community. The drop-in program is open Mondays-Fridays from Woburn Public School dismissal until 7:00 p.m. for members in 6th grade and younger and until 9:00 p.m. for teen members in 7th-9th grade. 

All new & returning youth & teens, accompanied by a parent or guardian, MUST attend an orientation and complete the online registration before being able to attend the Clubhouse program. Click here for details about this process!

We’re Hiring: Join Our Clubhouse Team!

The Main Clubhouse program is expanding and seeking individuals who are excited to support the growth of our programs and members! Current opportunities include: 

Aquatics Director – We are looking for a motivated individual to provide leadership within our Clubhouse program through aquatics opportunities. Candidates must have a CURRENT American Red Cross lifeguarding certificate and be willing to become certified in other areas such as WSI instructor and Certified Pool Operator within the first six months.

Youth Development Assistants – The Clubhouse is seeking multiple individuals to provide content-specific programming during afternoons & evenings to members ages 8-18. 

SCI AmeriCorps Member – In partnership with Social Capital Inc. we are seeking full-time AmeriCorps volunteers to support service-learning programming, volunteer coordination, and community building.

Session IV Enrollment: Spots Available

The Clubhouse afterschool program is entering its last session, Session IV! Programming begins Monday, April 25th and runs until Thursday, June 23rd! This program is open to youth ages 8-18 from any community and runs Mondays-Fridays from WPS school dismissal until 6:00 p.m. Space is limited and spots fill on a first come, first serve basis. Members sign up by the day of the week and can only attend on their registered days. 

Interested families must complete and return the enrollment form here: Afterschool Session IV Enrollment Form. Once days are confirmed in the program, a staff will be in touch to complete your membership. 

This limited capacity and set daily roster help ensure the Club remains a safe place for our members amongst the ongoing health crisis. The Club is a mask optional facility at this time.

Each afternoon members will participate in Power Hour, the Club’s designated time for homework help & academic support, receive a snack, and participate in a two activities of their choice. Members are encouraged to attend all registered days in their session and repeated failure to attend will affect your child’s continued ability to attend the program and to sign up for future sessions.

Club Basketball: Registration Information

James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn is offering intramural, instructional basketball leagues for youth in grades 2-6 this winter. The cost is $25 to participate and all participants must be Club members.

Leagues run from mid-November until mid-February. Teams will have one practice and one game each week. Biddy League teams practice at 6:00 p.m. weekdays and games are hosted Saturday mornings. Buddy League teams practice at 7:00 p.m. weekdays and games are hosted Saturday afternoons. Practice days and times are chosen by volunteer coaches and the Club can not make accommodations for practice and/or teammate requests.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: We are seeking volunteer coaches. If you are interested and/or able to volunteer to coach a basketball team this winter, please complete the volunteer form here. The number of coaches who volunteer determines the number of players we can accept into the league. Without enough volunteers, our spots for youth will be extremely limited.

To become a Club member, you must complete a 2021-2022 membership form and pay the $25 membership fee. Staff will be on hand during registration to collect all membership information for new participants. Memberships will not be available or accepted until the night of registration.
